Vegetarian Restaurants in Vegas

More and more Americans are inclining in the healthy menu options and study shows that this decade shows large growth of people going vegan and eating less meat.In fact, almost 33 millions or 14 percent of Americans are changing their diets into less meat and more vegetables this year according a new survey from Hunter Public Relations. Restaurants are one of those adapting the healthy options since their menus are flexible and even fast food chains are also offering salads and fruits compared to the usual burgers and fried chickens. Even the city of Las Vegas is incorporating the pagan and vegetarian lifestyle in a city where luxurious foods and top chefs are found.

The Sin City is a place of the best steaks and those hard to pronounce menus but vegas has been reinventing its food scene into a more healthier approach with restaurants offering vegetarian menu or less meat foods. Here are the lists of top restaurants that have been featured in T.V. or have been receiving positive web buzz from dining critics.

Fleur in Mandalay Bay – The french specialty fine dining and managed by celebrity top chef master Hubert Keller is not exactly a vegan or vegetarian inspired restaurant but the menu is very friendly to those vegan / vegetarian enthusiast with the vegan bouillabaisse. The recipe much healthier because the risottos uses vegetable broth as base aside from chicken broth. The vegan bouillabaisse is full of flavor and have a different aroma and taste and it is very light and warm to the tummy.

Scarpetta by Cosmopolitan Hotel – It is the first restaurant in the hotel to offer a full menu for vegans and vegetarians and one of the few italian restaurants in the City considering that Italian cooking relies mostly with meats like beef, chicken and sausages. One of the diners favorite is the roasted-braised lentils which is a sumptuous substitute to the typical roasted beef and grilled chicken.

Many restaurants in the Vegas strip are also offering or planning to offer full vegan / vegetarian menu and we will be featuring them soon for we all know that the trend for healthy lifestyle is trending and the market is growing.

O’Sheas Las Vegas To Close Down

The cherished O’Sheas Casino found in the Las Vegas strip will shut down its operation to pave way to the grander and bigger casino named The Ling. The O’Sheas which is a storefront casino of the strip is beloved by tourists and locals. it has a very casual and friendly people and a choice of those who wants to have a quick goodtime, free entertainment and cheap booze.

The official closing date of O’Sheas is April 30, 2012 and its main reason is that its space will be used by the up and coming behemoth The Ling. The closing is actually a sad news for O’Sheas loyal and patronizers for the place has been close to their hearts. O’Sheas is probably the only casino which offers a Strip Poker that is a few feet away from the strip. It also has some of the best acoustic sessions in the strip and surprising shows which are for free. From rock and roll shows to comedy acts and even just fooling other people and making fun of them and just about everything.

O’Sheas is under the Ceasar’s management which also is handling The Ling  so we expect and hope that all O’Sheas employees will just be transferred to other establishments owned by Ceasar’s. It is bad enough knowing that one of the friendliest casinos in Las Vegas is closing and it would surely break our hearts to know that the staff and crew of O’Sheas will also be jobless.

The Ling promises to reface the Las Vegas scene with its high-tech amusement offerings but that would not be enough for us to remember the good ol’days of O’sheas especially its cheap drinks, free shows, tattoos and Dirk Arthur’s Cats.

That is actually a huge question that needs to be answered. Where will be Dirk Arthur and his tigers be transferred?

We still have more than a month to enjoy O’Sheas and expect more cheap drinks and free fun and wild block parties in the coming days.

Cee Lo is perfect as a Las Vegas performer because of his colorful music and personality. Cee Lo recenetly just won 2 grammy’s which is a proof of him being a musical genius. The Las Vegas stint will also be perfect for Cee Lo’s career since he has issues traveling abroad and touring due to his back injury. With his hit song last year, F*** You (Forget You), Cee Loo is surely to be having an effin Vegas show that is unforgettable.

The hip-hop star will be headlining a theatrical show called Loberace which is a tribute to Liberace and will be wow-ing thousands of crowds with his Vegas and modern adaptation of the classic play.

Maybe Cee Lo can also invite his co-vocal coach friends Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine to his shows, that would be very interesting and amazing. Luxor to become Hilton

The Luxor hotel in Las Vegas is currently owned by MGM and stands tall in the desert skyline as a strong contender for the top Vegas hotel award each year. However, the hotels owners, MGM Resorts have entered into negotiations with the Hilton family to transfer ownership and management of the hotel. This seems like a strange move for MGM Resorts who are the owners of the majority of the high end hotels inLas Vegas. However, for Hilton it is a shroud business move to capitalise of the brand name that theLuxorwould bring them.

Hilton already own a hotel namedLuxorwhich is more fittingly in Egypt. By owning and managing thi sLuxor in Las Vegas, they would own bothLuxorhotels in the world and be able to fully capitalise on the marketing benefits that this world offer them. It would also be good news for the customers with another dimension to the competitiveness ofLas Vegashotels inevitably driving down the price to stay at the hotels.

The purchase of the Luxor would also hand cash straight into the pocket of MGM Resorts who would no doubt look to immediately invest this cash into another award winning landmark hotel. Hilton would also become and even larger player in the hotel market around the world and not just in Las Vegas.

Vegas Celebrates Muhammad Ali turning 70

This Saturday February 18th will mark Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday and Las Vegas is making sure that the legend is fully repaid and recognised for some great Vegas events that have been made possible thanks to the boxing genius. No other boxer is as well known globally for their work outside of the boxing ring to bring reform and transform culture as much as Muhammad Ali.

The weekend will see a 2 day gala event dedicated to the boxing great fromKentucky. The gala will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena which is the same location that has brought Muhammad Ali handfuls of victories in the boxing rings through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

However, the boxer and his close family are keen that they do not want all of the spoils to be about the ex heavyweight champion of the world. Muhammad Ali is again keen to use this event to promote awareness and participation of  a research charity. The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Centre for Brain Health is an organisation that Muhammad Ali has be actively involved with since its foundation and is keen for the good work to continue with the help of donations.

This leaves no more to say other than happy birthday Muhammad Ali and have a great weekend.

Las Vegas Opens The Mob Museum Downtown

Are you a big fan of the godfather movie franchise and the HBO hit series The Sopranos then the newly opened Mob Museum in Las Vegas is perfect for you. Situated in 300 Stewart Avenue, downtown Las Vegas, the museum is officially named National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.

The City of Las Vegas bought the vintage 1933 Federal Courthouse and Post Office in 2002 and redesign it to be the perfect mob museum. It took 10 years to finish the design and building process and also for the collection of artifacts. The artifacts showcases a collection of guns, knives and other weapons used by notorious mobs and law enforcement. The museum also uses high tech theater presentations. iconic memorabilia and interactive exhibits.

Jonathan Ullman, the executive director of the Mob Museum says, “One of the wonderful things about the museum is that there’s no glorifying the subject matter. If anything’s celebrated it’s the heroic efforts of law enforcement. These individuals who spent years working undercover made an amazing sacrifice for the good of everyone.”

So if you are planning for something different this love month and tired of candies and flowers, then join the “mob squad” and check out the museum.

The mob museum is open Sunday thru Thursday  from 10 AM to 7 PM.  Friday and Saturday hours of operation are 10 AM to 8 PM.  The admission is $18 for adults and $12 for children ages 5-17, $14 for seniors, military, law enforcement and teachers. I also heard that former mob members with a photo ID (ie. parole card, witness protection ID, carry permit, etc.) may become eligible for a discount in the future. Isn’t that cool? bumping to a real mob member in the museum.

Check out their website:
